Tennis Etiquette: Unwritten Rules Every Player Should Know
Tennis Etiquette Guide
Tennis has a rich tradition of sportsmanship and court etiquette. Knowing these unwritten rules will make you a respected playing partner anywhere in the world.
Before the Match
Spin a racket or flip a coin to decide who serves first. Warm up for 5 minutes, hitting to your opponent rather than trying to win points. The warm-up is cooperative, not competitive.
During Play
Call your own lines honestly. If you are unsure whether a ball was in or out, the ball is in. Wait for all balls to be cleared from the court before serving. Apologize for net cord winners.
